#TuesdayThoughts Becoming Carrie Bradshaw . . . On My Own Terms

As the lazy summer begins to give way to the busy-ness of the fall and Back To School season, I have such a wave of calm and relief over my decision to not return to traditional teaching in my home district.

I have felt a lot more at ease. It’s hard to explain. I just feel lighter, freer, calmer.

Work seems a little easier – writing on my blog and for Sugarcane Magazine now is more therapeutic (because I do it immediately after I get my assignment or when inspiration hits) and I’m more friendly (thanks to my wonderful homemade and programmed playlists from my multiple music streaming apps on my devices that I listen to while I’m writing and being creative 🎧🎶💖).

During my downtime, I am an avid watcher of all things Sex and the City – the book, series, films.

I have my own SATC store in my bedroom.

The more I watch, the more I realize how much I covet Carrie’s life.

Okay, clearly not the financial debt due to her expensive shoe obsession (but I do like cute shoes).

I love her apartment with that glamorous vanity table.

I love that she has a permanent clique of girlfriends.

I love that her girlfriends always help each other out.

I love that she and her friends live in New York and know where all the good parties and people are.

I love that she is a successful writer.

If there was a blueprint to follow to become the living Carrie BradShaw/ Candace Bushnell/Shonda Rhimes, I would commit to it and then live happily ever after.

Unfortunately, that’s not real life.

So I’ll keep writing, keep circulating my work on blogs and social network sites, network my work to influential friends (hey Corey, Marcus, Miss Michelle M., Miss Jill, Miss Janine, Miss Ava and Dwayne!) – Any other suggestions???
